When You are Recognized

What is an award or nomination?

What does it mean whether you accept or politely turn it down?

Whether or not you accept an award, it means someone has recognized your gifts.

I want to thank the lovely Vikki Thompson of The View Outside for her nomination of my blog for the Illuminating Blogger Award. Vikki has been a dedicated blogging friend, whose posts inspire me.

While I appreciate awards and nominations, I do not accept them often. Believe me, I appreciate the support shown.

I have been incognito this weekend due to the husband’s birthday and family illness, but an exciting news post and the last When We Write Letters will return this Thursday and Sunday.

For now, I would like to nominate seven other bloggers who also influence me:

Shannon A. Thompson

Eagle-Eyed Editor

For the Love of Autism and Writing

Jennifer M Eaton

memomuse’s Blog

Pete Denton – Writer

Lens and Pens by Sally

There are many other amazing blogs, as well as bloggers who have supported me in my first year as a blogger. It is not easy to always keep up with a two-year-old finding the joy in throwing around a gift can.

Thank you, Rebecca T. Dickinson

  1. A thoughtful and interesting little post this. Thanks for sharing. The idea of being nominated – let alone receiving – an award is, for most of us I would hazard, something we can only dream about. I’d like to think I would be over-the-moon with joy, but I just don’t know. I have received awards in the past, but not for writing. If it ever does happen, I’ll let you know how it feels!

    1. Thank you, costaauthor, for your thoughtful comment! I think awards make people feel so many different ways. It is an honor to receive one, and at the same time I am not crazy about going in front of people if it was one such that required onstage acceptance.

  2. You are very welcome honey and thank you 🙂

I LOVE the nominating part, and is why I accept awards given to me. It gives me the opportunity to show recognition to other bloggers who’s blogs I admire and gives me the excuse to recommend them to my followers 🙂

    1. I understand completely! Now that I’ve been blogging for more than a year, I have read so many wonderful blogs. Thank you again Vikki, and congrats to you also!
